As a kid I never really knew what I wanted to do for a career. Growing up we never really had much, but the enjoyments of fishing and cricket was always something to look forward to. At the age of 10 my father was diagnosed with bowl cancer and at the time I didn't quite understand the full severity of dad's illness, but I later understood this was terminal. I saw both my parents struggle financially and all I ever wanted to do was help in any way I could. At 13 I dropped out of school washing dishes and chose to pursue a passion in the hospitality industry, which later carried onto completing a cert 3 in commercial cookery under some very talented chefs on the Mornington peninsula by the age of 18.

 I always had an interest in painting and on my rostered days off would work for a local painter on the Mornington peninsula. Once completing my cert 3 in commercial cookery I felt like a change was needed and relocated to Airlie Beach QLD. Once relocating to Airlie beach, I pursued my passion in painting and decorating. Truly, I found a career that not only I loved but visioned an opportunity that never in a Million years would ever come around. Suddenly the dream of owning a modest vehicle that didn't break down every week or the opportunity to own a property were all within striking distance.

The journey has been a roller coaster with a lot of speed bumps, tears and doubts but I wouldn't change it for the world. Throughout the journey many people have had a massive influence and impact on my life, not only showing support and guidance but by making me realize that no matter the circumstances anything is possible with the right attitude. I am so grateful for these very people that took the time to guide me in the right direction, knowing the person that every kid looks up to for that pathway was no longer with us, without there guidance I honestly don't know where I would be.  I really hope the creation of Airlie Splash of colour presents the same guidance and opportunities to a similar individual.
